Make-up met een mondkapje: de do's en dont's

A year ago, if someone had said that we would all be wearing face masks daily, it wouldn't have been believed. But we have to admit: the face mask is now part of our everyday scenery. A new scenery calls for a different approach to our makeup. That's why we're sharing the do's and don'ts for your makeup while wearing a mask.

Put foundation aside
This new 'trend' (let's keep it positive :-)) means we need to adjust our makeup from the ground up. If you've gone all out with foundation, there's a good chance that after a few hours of wearing your mask, you'll take it off to find a big 'stain' greeting you. And we definitely don't want that. So be careful with foundation, don't use too much. Opt for a tinted moisturizer or BB cream if you want to use something. Otherwise, it's better to skip it for now.

Skip the lipstick
Besides the fact that you won't see your lipstick once you put on the mask, the chances of it still looking good after removing the mask are very slim. It's really disappointing when you've just bought a new lipstick, only to find it smeared on your chin when you take off your mask. Our advice? Just leave it out for now, that way you can't go wrong.

Accentuate the eyes
Since half of our face is covered by the mask, you can beautifully focus on the part that is still visible. The eyes! Go wild with eyeshadow, eyeliner, or false lashes. Anything goes! Oh, and don't forget the eyebrows. They could use a little extra love too.

Clean your skin well
Hygiene is, of course, already a hot topic right now. Hands are being washed often (read here how to take care of your hands with all that washing) and everyone is cleaning more frequently. This also applies to your skin. With the mask on, the skin can't breathe properly and dirt stays on longer. Plus, every time you put on and take off the mask, you touch your face, introducing more bacteria. That's why it's even more important to properly cleanse with a cleanser in the evening and morning. Be kind to your skin. A moisturizing day cream is also a must; the mask can irritate the skin around the mouth.

Clean your mask
If you're using a fabric mask that you wear multiple times, we don't need to tell you that it's more hygienic to wash it as often as possible. All the dirt, sweat, and bacteria can cause skin irritation. So wash it regularly at 60 degrees, and everything will be fine.

Let's hope these tips will soon be a thing of the past and that we can walk the streets without a mask again. Until then, let's make the best of it with these tips! Have fun and stay safe!
