Does it sound super fun to do your friend's makeup? Maybe this is the perfect opportunity. It's always nice to look back on later, right? We give you a step-by-step guide to make your best friend's makeup look as beautiful as possible.
Step 1: Cleansing
First, make sure to clean the face well before you start.
Step 2: Primer
Gently apply a primer or day cream to the face in a circular motion.
- Make a small heart on the face, from the nose to the cheekbones, towards the chin.
- Then make a large heart, from the middle of the forehead to the bottom of the jawline, towards the neck.
Step 3: Concealer
Next, you want to even out the skin with concealer. You can do this before or after applying foundation. By applying foundation first and then concealer, you can make everything more even. There's also a smaller chance of wiping the foundation off the skin. Apply the concealer to imperfections or dark spots on the skin. Blend the concealer in with a beauty blender or a brush, gently tapping it into the skin.
Step 4: Foundation
Apply the foundation with a blender or a foundation brush. Decide for yourself which method you find easiest. Then apply the foundation to your hand with the amount you think you need, so you can distribute it evenly over the face. This way, you prevent accidentally applying too much foundation. Gently tap the foundation into the skin.
Step 5: Setting powder
Next, apply the setting powder to the face. This is used to set the makeup, so the foundation and concealer stay in place. Sweep a powder brush over the powder and gently blow on the brush to remove excess powder. You can also tap the handle of the brush against the edge of the sink. This way, you won't apply too much powder at once to avoid a cakey effect. You can always apply more powder later. You can also use a beauty blender for this. And don't forget to dust off the setting powder after it has absorbed.
Step 6: Eyebrows
While the setting powder absorbs, you can start drawing the eyebrows. Draw a line under the eyebrows. Use an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow gel and follow the bottom edge of the eyebrow shape. Make sure to draw a lighter line in the lighter part of the eyebrows. Then draw a line above the eyebrows in the shape you want and fill in the shape you've created with the eyebrow gel or pencil.
Step 7: Primer
Next, apply eyeshadow primer. Use an eyeshadow base (primer) to ensure that the eyeshadow stays in place all day. If you don't do this, the natural oil in your skin will seep through the eyeshadow, causing it to accumulate in the crease of the eyelid.
Step 8: Eyeshadow
Then apply the eyeshadow with a soft small makeup brush and make a circular motion. This way, you blend the colors together and avoid eyeshadow buildup.
Tip: Apply a light color to the inner corner of the eye for an accent. Although this step is not necessary, it creates a nice effect, making the eyes look brighter and larger.
Step 9: Bronzer
To accentuate the beautiful lines in the face, first use a bronzer. This gives a healthy color to areas of the face where the sun naturally hits. Dip the brush into the bronzer, so the bronzer is evenly distributed on the brush. It's best to apply the bronzer evenly rather than creating a dark layer all at once. Then apply it with a brush on the forehead, cheekbone, nose, and possibly under the jawline. Don't use too much, as that can create an unnatural effect.
Step 10: Highlighter time
Apply highlighter to the top parts of the cheekbones. Start from your temple and move towards the top part of the cheekbones. You can also apply highlighter to the tip of the nose. To accentuate the middle of the forehead, you can swipe some highlighter from the middle of the forehead down towards the bridge of the nose.
Step 11: Blush
To apply blush, there's a rule of thumb: smile so that the apples of your cheeks appear. Apply the blush to the round part of the cheeks. Then blend the blush towards the temples or ears, depending on her face shape and the effect you want to achieve.
- If she has a round or heart-shaped face, you can choose to blend the blush towards the temple to accentuate the cheekbones.
- If she has an elongated face that you want to appear less narrow, blend the blush towards the ears, more horizontally. This creates an optical widening effect.
Step 12: Setting spray
The setting spray is sprayed over the makeup and helps keep everything in place. Make sure to shake the spray bottle well beforehand. Sprays contain different ingredients that can settle at the bottom of the bottle. Hold the bottle 15-20 cm away from the face and then spray the entire face. Let the spray dry naturally. Now it's time for a photo to capture this fun moment for later.
We hope you had a great day with your friend and definitely show us the result.
